Spam sucks

I am considering killing the wordpress side of my site. I really like it and love the interface. But the way it deals with spam is bothering me doesnt deal with spam bothers me. I know I could maybe get a plugin or something that would take care of it but I spend so much time on my Drupal side, not lately but I do. I don’t have time to setup the spam blocker or whatever. I will have to see what I can do. Cause I hate to think my server space is getting full just from stupid spam. We will see.

So I have decided what to do

Drupal maintains the front of my site with all of its PHP goodness. Gallery is now up and running and is my image management system. I really like it.

I have decided that this end of my site (since it sits hidden) is going to be my personal Blog. I can post things here and the general public shouldnt be able to see it. Now yes… if someone were to just go in and punch up digitalruck.us/blog they would be able to find this. But yea… I don’t care that much. I just don’t want ALL my personal posts going up on the front page.

Digital Drupal Ruckus

So Drupal has now officially gone live on the main part of the site. The only downfall is that Drupal does support blogging on its own and so I might not come and update this Wordpress powered blog since all my content will go over there. I love it cause it has RSS for EVERYTHING and I will definitely keep things updated since I love to blog. Thereby everyone of my readers will keep updated as well once they subscribe via RSS. Wow. Just so amazed at the power of the Open Source community.

Digital Ruckus might change its face. I know I posted earlier that I was not too happy with way this site has looked. Well now I found a way that I could be happy with the delivery of information. In fact I could kickstart my personal podcast with it, because Drupal supports RSS feeds. Either way Digital Ruckus might be changing its face very soon.

The New Hotness: The Robo Catcher at TV in Japan

We have the usual claw game at the grocery stores and movie theaters. As always though the Japanese come and do one better. Now they have robots that will capture your prize and drop it down the chute. I can definitely see kids dropping the new one dollar coins to try and get their bunny while running the robot around.

Google Calendar to Microsoft Outlook

Though I have proclaimed that my affiliation to Mac is growing. There are still things that are stuck in my PC. One of them is Activesync. I need it to sync up my phone to my calendar and my contacts. (mainly for backup purposes really). Well I also have Google Calendars and have always wanted to figure out an easy way of syncing my Google Calendars with my Outlook and thereby with my phone. Apparently there is a way using Remote Calendars and using some of the XML feeds of Google Calendars. I am still figuring out the details from the instructions I found but should be interesting. I will post my input once I finalize it all.

By the way, I love Snap so I am putting in as many hyperlinks as possible so you can enjoy it.

Rasterization

Posted on February 17th, 2007 by Joe Talaiver.

So I found this neat little application sometime ago and decided to share it. The program has a name that is a double entendre but what it creates is amazing.

Ok I better just tell you what it is. The programs name is “Rasterbator“. Stop chuckling and really see what this is. It will take any image that you input and can convert it into a massive poster. This is done through rastering the image into several dots. You may not understand what this is but a good example is any newsprint image or comic book graphics. This basically means the image is broken down into dots that are all of different sizes. The dots are then printed in a grid pattern. The dots that are larger seem closer together and thereby make the darker areas of the image. If you throw color into the mix you get the same thing except you will also get a range of colors depending on the size of the red, green, or blue dots. Its a really cool way of making your own poster. Kinda similar to the one featured on Photojojo. I prefer Rasterbator because after all I can download the file and use it as a standalone.

Oh Snap!!

Ok so here’s the deal. Snap Preview Anywhere is not working and it is no fault of Snap. WORKING!! This is all on me for installing things incorrectly and activating things improperly. IN FACT… the amazing thing for me was that just this morning I recieved an email from a chap at Snap who saw that I had announced my usage of Snap but then saw a lack of use of it. He wanted input as to how I messed up or how the install might have been difficult. Let me tell you that blew me away. To be honest you don’t get good customer support like that from even a brick-and-mortar type of establishment. Secondly (and this almost most importantly) is that this was a FREE service. I mean I did not pay anything for Snap or even give them a donation. I am just blown away. I have links in the post but again they might not have the uber cool Snap window till I get this all fixed. To my Snap helper… thanks so much. I will withold your identity for your safety and just incase you dont want it out there. Thanks again Snap!!
Snap

THIS JUST IN — Yes thats right. Snap Preview Anywhere is working!! It looks phenom and I would like to thank my Snap compatriot for fixing the issue. Good on ya Snap!!

Additionally I will be setting up my blog to start posting direct from email cause I feel I can more readily do that then having to post from my laptop all the time. My phone is great for sending emails from anywhere so this would be a perfect use of it.
