Prejudice to Geeks

So I have been the victim of prejudice. Prejudice to geeks that is. I have come to notice that some airports must just not like geeks. They force us who are so dependent upon the 110 outlet to sit at the most dingy corners of the terminals. We walk about like dogs hunting truffles in northern italy. You can see the geeks crouching under banks of telephones, hunting behind ticket terminals, or opening small panels to find either a data termination box or by glorious chance a double three prong outlet. Then there is also the tantalizing “Wireless Network Detected” notification that gives geeks the short thrilling thought of possibly being able to browse the web in this purgatory we are stuck in. But alas the reality of it is that any of these wireless access points are truly inaccessible and require very specific logins and/or subscriptions.

Some airports however are very accomodating with desks, wireless access, and even… dare I say… easily accessible outlets. So why is there such an evident prejudice to the geeks of the world? Not sure but I hope I can live in a day where airports handout powerstrips and WEP codes in exchange for nothing. (Of course I am joking but at least give us better electrical outlets)

Overview in MCPS

Today I did a great jumpstart with some teachers in Montgomery County Public Schools (Montgomery, MD). There is an absolute thrill to getting an entire group of teachers to “Ooo” and “Ahh” at your every move. It gives me such enjoyment knowing that when I share the power of Promethean products I reinvigorate teachers. I am not just saying that to be cute. One teacher actually came up to me and said that she was thinking of leaving teaching and going back to the corporate world. Either way after going through the ActivStudio software and seeing what she could do, she told me that she was thrilled now to go back to the classroom. I just love it!! I feel like tons of good stuff will be coming out of MCPS if all the teachers can get behind the district’s Promethean roll out like the the ones I met today.

Reasons for the change…

Ok first I will say there is no beef with me and Drupal. I had some grand schemes planned and though Drupal’s CMS is what I wanted but I realized I was just building it out as a glorified blog and who has the best blog engine? WordPress. Period. Either way I have always loved WordPress widgets and integration with other services. Soon more will come so check back. I mean for example I am posting this from shotgun seat as my brother and I drive past my city, NYC. I forgot how much I love this place.

New Face of Digital Ruckus

Digital Ruckus just got a face lift. Due to some issues with Drupal I have killed the old site and bumped up to a WordPress engine. Bear with us as we repopulate but alot of new features should be coming soon. THANKS!
